As an In-house Lawyer/Corporate Counsel, you will be a key member of the Legal Function, providing internal legal support on a wide range of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) matters. You will initially focus on our EMEA West region (France, Spain, Italy, Portugal & Benelux) but will support other EMEA regions as needed. We are particularly interested in candidates who speak Spanish or Dutch (in addition to English), although this is not essential. Day-to-day you will be doing general commercial work, including advising on a wide range of commercial contracts, compliance and regulatory issues, plus day-to-day claims and disputes. You will also be required to provide ad-hoc advice on other legal matters (e.g. data privacy and competition law). You will be joining a large, friendly in-house team, with lots of support. You will work closely with other in-house lawyers within the EMEA Legal Team, Division Counsel across all Thermo Fisher businesses, and various other functions such as Finance, IP and Procurement. This is a permanent contract and the role will be based at our offices near Glasgow Airport (Inchinnan) which are newly refurbished and have an on-site café and gym. Occasional travel within the EMEA region may be required. We are supportive of flexible start/finish times and may offer the opportunity to work from home 1 or 2 days per week. What will you do? Draft various complex agreements for all parts of the organisation in support of their objectives, including sales agreements, strategic supply agreements, collaboration/joint venture agreements, IT agreements, co-marketing agreements, term sheets, etc. Support and, where appropriate, lead negotiations with customers on key agreements Deal with all kinds of marketing inquiries Take an active role in the Teams process improvement and automated legal solution strategy by participating in and/or leading certain relevant Team projects Consult with other parts of the organisation on the interpretation of agreements in effect or in development Participate in the resolution of a wide range of business, contractual, financial and operational issues Educate and train employees on their obligations under the terms of various contracts and under applicable legal requirements Work with other members of the EMEA Legal team and the various divisions with a presence in EMEA to manage a wide range of commercial contracts, focussing on more complex agreements and covering a broad spectrum of operational business issues Work collaboratively with Division Counsel across all Groups and on various EMEA matters and initiatives.
